Seed choices for Spring sowing, eating Summer 2012

 

Spring Vegetable Seed Selection

1.  Dill Diana – A compact upright Variety. Slow to bolt. Sow in succession from February indoors or April Outdoors 100 SEEDS  £2.22

2.  Sweet Basil Luna – Will produce large bright green aromatic leaves.

Sow a few seeds at a time from March onwards. Water sparingly to avoid damping off. Can be grown in pots 100 SEEDS  £2.22

3.   Chive Polycross - THE EDIBLE BORDER vigerous upright growth with strong dark green blades.

Sow in pots indoors from January on at a temperature of 10-12C. Do not overwater. Ventilate on all possible occasions. Harden off prior to planting out on prepared ground in April & May 100 SEEDS  £2.22

4.   Sky Rocket
– Deeply notched leaves with a strong peppery flavour.

Slow to bolt and recovers well after cutting. Sow in containers or open ground for summer use and under glass for winter production  100 SEEDS  £2.22

5.  Parsley Laura, flat – Tall variety with flat open leaf and good colour  50 SEEDS

Sow in gentle heat from February onwards. Cover seeds lightly with the same compost Pot on when seedlings are big enough to handle  £2.22

6. Coriander Leisure – Leafy herb for salads and cooking. Sow a few seeds at a time from March onwards. Water sparingly to avoid damping off. Can be grown in pots. Use as required 100 SEEDS  £2.22

7.  Chilli Pepper Prairie Fire  Small Bush Plant HOT Sow in warmth using seed compost. Pot seedlings when ready into a stronger compost. Feed regularly using a tomato type feed. Do not side shoot plants but grow as a bush. Keep warm over winter for early fruit the following year. All chillies ripen better indioors  10 seeds £2.30

8.  Tomato Tumbler F1 – Bush habit. Cherry Size Fruits. Ideal for pots and hanging Baskets. Outdoor Variety 7 seeds.

Sow in sowing compost January – March at 1-14C. Transfer to individual pots as soon as seedlings can be handled. Do not overcrowd seedlings. Ventilate on all possible poccasions. To avoid damping off water sparingly during dull conditions -  £2.62

9. Lettuce. Selection of sweet green leaf and red leaf varieties. 50 SEEDS

Sow thinly from March to September, just covering the seeds. Transplant to containers or open ground when seedlings are mature enough to handle. Use leaves as required £2.22

10. Direct Sowing Pack:  £9.59
The Prince Dwarf French Bean. Needs very little support. Pick as ready.
White Lisbon Spring Onion. Sow a few at a time. Use as soon as ready
Nandor Carrot . Sow thinly in rows for sweet crunchy carrots
Red Ace Beetroot. Sow thinly in rows. Use as soon as they are the size you need. Can store for winter use.
Onward Pea. Needs short sticks for support. Pick as soon as ready.
