Compost Duvets

The 'Classic' Compost Duvet has been developed to prevent heat loss in the compost in the early stages of decomposition. Heat builds up naturally and if it can be maintained by day and night the heat can destroy weeds, seeds and disease.

The Big Square Composter has been developed to accompany and to fit the newer Big quare Compost Bins and Modules

This concept has proved to maintain high temperatures within the compost, both day and night. It will also keep out frosts in winter so that the worms can work all year round. The Duvet fits snugly into the wooden bins but it can be used on any compost pile and has fixing rings for easy management when filling and emptying the composter.

When used with lids the compost is well protected against deep low temperatures and you will be able to harvest the compost in spring, allowing you to empty and use the compost on new beds. Then you can reassemble the whole composter inside out and treat it with a coat of Croma Preservative.

The Compost Duvet is made from recycled woven plastic fabric. It has a bubble filling which expands and plumps up with the natural heat rising from the compost, making a barrier to the outside cold conditions and keeping the compost at a warm to high temperature.
