The 'Platform' range  has one (the single 'third') leg adjustable and in addition an even deeper rung set at the highest safe working height for that model.  If you know that you will be working at this level most of the time, this might be the choice for you.

The heights shown for each unit are the overall height of the unit.  You can safely stand up to 2' from the top on the 8' models and you can stand up to 3' from the top on models 10' and 12'.
